Prawns
- 350 g (0.77 lb) king prawns, peeled and deveined
- ½ tsp white pepper
- 1 tsp chicken powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tsp custard powder
Coating
- 1 cup plain flour
Hot Honey Lemon Sauce
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp chilli oil
- ¼ cup honey
- 4 lemon slices
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
Season the Prawns
- Add the prawns to a large bowl.
- Season with white pepper, chicken powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- Add the egg, cornstarch, and custard powder.
- Mix well until the prawns are evenly coated.
Coat & Fry
- Place the flour into a shallow tray or bowl.
- Add the prawns and coat thoroughly in the flour.
- Heat oil in a wok over high heat.
- Fry the prawns until golden brown, crispy, and cooked through.
- Remove from the oil, drain well, and set aside.
Make the Sauce
- In a clean wok, add the oil, chilli oil, honey, lemon slices, and lemon juice.
- Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.
Finish & Serve
- Place the crispy prawns into a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the hot honey lemon sauce over the prawns.
- Toss until every prawn is evenly coated in the glaze.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
